iPhone 5 Smart and Globe postpaid plans, LTE price

Apple is expected to announce the iPhone 5 on September 12. The new iPhone is anticipated to be shipped in the US on September 21 and in select markets worldwide weeks later.

There have been rumors that the Philippines is one of the countries who will first receive the latest iPhone after its official launch in the United States.

It’s basically the reason why local telecommunications companies have launched their respective LTE services as part of the preparations, tech blogs reported.

Smart launched its multi-band LTE network on August 25 while Globe commercially rolled out its 4G LTE in early September.

Everything seems to be in placed for the anticipated launch of the iPhone 5 in two days. The question now is how much would an iPhone 5 LTE cost if we avail it via a postpaid plan from Smart or Globe?

Yugatech estimated that Smart’s iPhone 5 LTE plan pricing will range from P2,500 up to P3,500 monthly service fee (MSF), with variations in bandwidth and free calls and texts the subs get to consume each month.

Meanwhile, Globe’s brand manager for postpaid Erika Jocson said “It is no secret that Globe has always been at the forefront of bringing the iPhone” to the Philippines, but the company has yet to announce its own iPhone 5 LTE plans.

The Ayala owned telco has unlimited LTE plans that are cheaper than its competitor. The Tattoo Black Plan 1799, with speeds of up to 28Mbps, is offered at P1,799/month while the Tattoo Black Elite Plan 2499, with speeds of up to 42Mbps, is priced at P2,499/month.
