Rainfall Warning Signal for NCR raised to code 'RED'

State weather bureau PAGASA raised Wednesday afternoon the Rainfall Warning Signal to Code ‘RED’ for Metro Manila.

PAGASA reported that as of 4:30 PM, there’s torrential rainfall (30.0-50.0 mm/hr) over Quezon City, Manila and Marikina; heavy to intense rainfall (15.0-30.0 mm/hr) over Pasig, CAMANAVA, Taguig and Pasay; and moderate to heavy rainfall (7.5-15.0 mm/hr) over the rest of the National Capital Region.

Due to the effect of the series of thunderstorms embedded in the Southwest Monsoon, PAGASA said residents in affected areas should expect heavy to intense rains (15.0-30.0mm/hr) with occasional torrential rains (more than 30.0mm/hr) within 2 hours.

The weather agency advised residents in flood/landslides risk areas to take precautionary measures and monitor the next warning.

Code ‘RED’ means serious flooding is expected in low lying areas and evacuation would be compulsory.
