Chris Lighty dead at 44, apparently commits suicide

Hip-hop mogul Chris Lighty has apparently shot himself to death at his home in the Bronx borough of New York on August 30. He was 44.

According to the NY Daily News, cops found Lighty’s lifeless body on the basement patio, full of blood, with a 9-mm. pistol at his side.

Authorities are reportedly conducting a deeper investigation.

Called by the New York Times as “one of the most powerful figures in the hip-hop business,” Lighty was the founder of Violator, a record label, management, and marketing company, which represented hip hop artists such as Nas, Ja Rule, Mobb Deep, Missy Elliott, L.L. Cool J, and 50 Cent.

He was also Sean “Diddy” Combs’ manager.
