August 17 a special non-working day in Davao for 'Kadayawan'

Davaoeños can go out, party all day and join the celebration of the Kadayawan Festival as President Benigno Aquino III declared Friday, August 17, 2012 a special non-working day in the city.

Aquino issued the declaration through Proclamation No. 432 signed by Executive Secretary Paquito Ochoa Jr. on July 12, upon the request of Davao’s sangguniang panlungsod to enable the people to participate in the event.

This means a long, three-day weekend for Davao residents.

The Kadayawan Festival is a weeklong celebration and thanksgiving for nature’s bountiful harvest. The festivity is being celebrated every third week of August in Davao.
