Ferdie exits Philippines

Tropical Depression Ferdie has moved away from the country and is already out of the Philippine Area of Responsibility, state weather bureau PAGASA reported early Sunday, July 22, 2012.

The storm’s eye was last spotted at 350 kilometers West Northwest of Laoag City.

TD Ferdie had maximum winds of 55 kilometers per hour near the center and continued to move in the West Northwest direction at 15 kph.

Weather experts, however, advised fishing boats and other small seacrafts not to venture out into the western seaboard of Luzon due to the combined effect of ‘Ferdie’ and the Southwest Monsoon.

For the past few days, overnight downpour brought by the weather disturbance caused flooding in some areas in Metro Manila and nearby provinces.

Heavy rains prompted several LGUs to declare suspension of classes in specific schools. NCAA and UAAP games on Saturday were likewise cancelled due to inclement weather.
