ABS-CBN’s primetime news program TV Patrol on Thursday, July 19, reported that operatives of the National Bureau of Investigation stormed a computer shop in San Fernando, La Union.
Armed with a search warrant issued by the Manila RTC, the NBI agents arrested the NABIMOVIE.COM computer shop owner who allegedly records, reproduces, and copies programs, shows and movies of the Kapamilya network and uploads the videos to a live streaming site.
Twelve computers, hardisks and other peripherals purportedly used in the illegal activity were also confiscated as evidence.
The suspect identified as Ogie Villamil will be charged for violation of the law against copyright infringement, specifically “Section 177 and 211 in relation to Section 216 of R.A. 8293” or the “Intellectual Property Code of the Philippines,” the report said.
Villamil denied the accusation and insisted that he is only an “embedder.”
Is this the end of websites copying, live streaming shows of the Kapamilya network?
