MMDA leads EDSA blessing

Hoping that Divine Providence would help lessen road accidents at the Epifanio de los Santos Avenue (EDSA), the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) held a blessing of the highway Friday morning, July 6, 2012.

Recently, road mishaps along EDSA involving buses among other vehicles have increased significantly.

Reports said that from six a day, the number of vehicular accidents happening on this main thoroughfare daily have risen to thirty six.

Many believe that EDSA has not been blessed since it was renamed from Highway 54 in 1959.

EDSA is the longest and most important avenue in Manila. It connects and provides access to the cities of Caloocan, Quezon City, Mandaluyong, San Juan, Makati, Pasig, Taguig, Parañaque and Pasay.
