The University of Sto. Tomas Growling Tigers had a rare opportunity to beat the defending champion Ateneo Blue Eagles 71-70 during their game at the Araneta Coliseum on Thursday, July 19, 2012.
With the victory, UST finally ended their losing streak against Ateneo in the UAAP.
In an interview before the post-game press conference, UST coach Pido Jarencio said his team waited for a day when the sun shines on them. “That day is today,” he said.
