Aquino appoints pioneers of PRC’s respiratory therapy board

President Benigno Aquino III has appointed the first members of the Professional Regulatory Board of Respiratory Therapy which operates under the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC), a Malacañang official announced earlier.

Deputy Presidential Spokesperson Abigail Valte in May 2012 said the newly appointed members of the board include Julita V. Toledo, Chairperson for a term of three years, Senen O. Teope, for a term of two years; and Jesus M. Espinas, for a term of one year.

The appointments were in accordance with R.A. 10024, otherwise known as the “Philippine Respiratory Therapy Act,” which recognizes the importance of respiratory therapists in nation-building.

According to said law, the Board “shall develop and nurture competent, virtuous, productive and well rounded respiratory therapists whose standards of practice and service shall be excellent, qualitative, world-class and globally competitive through inviolable, honest, effective and credible licensure examinations and through regulatory measures, programs and activities that foster their professional growth.”
