Reno Fire November 2011: At Least 10,000 People Evacuate

A wind-fueled fire destroyed nature and properties in the city of Reno in Nevada, USA which reportedly started early morning of Friday, November 18, 2011. Television reports say at least ten thousand people left their homes and more than 300 firefighters are battling the blaze.

The heavy smoke and the wind gusts measuring up to 70 miles per hour reportedly prevented rescue helicopters from going near the area.

YouTube user AndrewLeeGeorge was able to capture the Reno fire on video. He posted that his footage was taken at Skyline Canyon near Caughlin Ranch at 3:30 in the morning.

George said he didn't know where the blaze originated, but added that strong winds caused the fire to spread very quickly.
