Manny Ott made the Azkals’ first goal in the game at the 8th minute.

When it seemed there was already no hope for the Filipinos to reach the semi-finals, player number 11, Joshua Beloya, scored twice late in the second half, specifically at the 90+1 and 90+3 minute, to give the Philippines it’s first win.

The nationals’ victory puts Philippines at 3rd place in the Group B ranking after Myanmar and Vietnam at first place with 7 points each, and Timor Leste at second place with six.

The U-23 Azkals, who got three points from Friday's triumphant performance, need to beat Myanmar on Sunday (November 13) and Brunei on Tuesday (November 15) to be able to enter the knock-out stage.

If the Philippine Azkals get to secure a spot, they will meet either a group stage winner or runner-up from Group A, which is comprised of Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand and Cambodia, in the semi-finals round.
