That first win is still elusive.

In the absence of over 23-years-old go-to guys like Chieffy Caligdong and Phil Younghusband, the Filipino footballers struggled in their first two games.

In their opening game held at the Gelora Bung Karno Stadium in Jakarta, Indonesia, last November 3, Philippines bowed to Vietnam, 1-3.

Then in their November 7 match against Timor Leste at the Lebak Bulus Stadium in Jakarta, Philippines lost, 1-2.

As of posting time, the U-23 Azkals settle at the bottom of the Group B rankings with zero points, while Timor Leste ranks 1st with 6 points, Vietnam and Myanmar occupy the 2nd spot with 4 points each, and Laos as well as Brunei, both with 1 point, share the 3rd place.

The Philippines’ U-23 Azkals are scheduled to face Laos on Friday (November 11), Myanmar on Sunday (November 13) and Brunei next Tuesday (November 15).
