Tropical Storm Ramon weakens into a Tropical Depression

Tropical Storm “Ramon” has weakened into a Tropical Depression as it makes landfall in Southern Leyte at 6:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 12, 2011, the Philippine Atmospheric and Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) reported.

As of 7:00 a.m. today, weather experts said TD “Ramon” was spotted in the vicinity of Camotes Island with maximum sustained winds of 55 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center. It is moving West Northwest at 15 kph.

Although Ramon's intensity has been lowered, thirteen areas have been placed under storm signal no. 2, while nineteen areas are under signal no. 1 as of 5:00 o'clock this morning.

TD Ramon is expected to take an exit from the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) by Friday evening or Saturday morning, the weather bureau during a press briefing said.
