Given Grace Cebanico Murder Suspect Surrenders

One of the suspects in the robbery, murder, and rape of 19-year-old UP Los Baños Computer Science student Given Grace Cebanico last Tuesday has surrendered.

Reports said the suspect, identified as Lester Ivan Lopez Rivera, a PS Bank security guard, surrendered to authorities in Floridablanca, Pampanga on Friday.

Another suspect named Percival De Guzman, a tricycle driver, was tagged by a witness who saw him abducting the victim along Diamond Street in Umali Subdivision. He is now under the custody of the Laguna police.

Follow up reports said the witness was De Guzman's friend who was initially with them, but withdrew later because he felt fear. Their original motive, the witness reportedly said, was to rob the victim.

The witness, whom authorities called a “bagito” (beginner), backed out when he realized that Rivera and De Guzman had other plans. Rivera reportedly attempted to kill the witness but he was able to run away.

Given Grace CebanicoReports said Cebanico was on her way to her dormitory when she was abducted by the suspects.

Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO), who conducted an investigation and autopsy on the victim, found out that she was raped.
