DPWH suspends employee involved in ‘fake photo’ controversy

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has suspended an “overeager” employee who altered a photo of three high-ranking officials conducting ocular inspection at the Manila Bay seawall which was heavily damaged by a storm surge brought by Typhoon Pedring last week.

The ‘photoshopped’ image, which was uploaded by the unnamed employee on the agency's Facebook page, has drawn flak from netizens. Some accused the DPWH of faking inspections.

Fake Photoshopped DPWH Photo
The three officials in the fake photo, according to INQUIRER.net, were DPWH Undersecretary Romeo Momo, DPWH Metro Manila Regional Director Reynaldo Tagudando, and South Manila District Engineer Mikunug Macud.

Momo reportedly complained that the manipulated image was posted on the social network “without our knowledge.”

DPWH Rogelio Singson defended the officials saying they “had nothing to do with the fake photo.” He apologized to the public and insisted that what has happened was the photographer's fault.
