Mayweather defeats Ortiz Video Replay

Floyd Mayweather, Jr. has defeated Victor Ortiz at the “Star Power” World Boxing Council (WBC) Welterweight Championship of the World held at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada on Saturday, September 17, 2011 (Sunday, September 18 PST).

The challenger, former pound-for-pound king Mayweather, has defeated the Mexican-American defending champion Ortiz in the 4th round of the bout.

Ortiz made a mistake when he did not protect himself just a few seconds after asking an apology for the head butt he committed against the irritated Mayweather earlier in the round. The latter took advantage of Ortiz' lack of focus and landed a quick and powerful left hook onto his jaw followed by a straight right that finally knocked him down.

Ortiz was counted out as he struggled to get up on his feet which prompted the referee to end the fight and declare Mayweather as the winner. Floyd Mayweather, Jr. is now the new WBC Welterweight Champion of the World.

With the win, Floyd Mayweather, Jr. has proven that he is still undefeated with 42 victories out of 42 matches, of these he had caused 26 knockouts, no loss and draw. Victor Ortiz, meanwhile, holds a record of 34 fights, 29 wins, 22 KOs, 2 draws and 3 losses.
