Marikina River 3rd alarm status retracted

Office of Civil Defense (OCD) director Benito Ramos pulled back his earlier announcement declaring that Marikina River has reached 3rd alarm status, according to in an update at noon Tuesday.

Ramos reportedly said the river has reached only 16.7 meters, contrary to his announcement an hour earlier that the river has risen to 17 meters above sea level.

Sixty families, 58 of whom come from Barangay Malanday and 2 are from Barangay Concepcion, evacuated the area when the Marikina River reached 2nd alarm Tuesday morning, the report said.
