Juan Manuel Marquez drinks his urine; will therapy help him win fight vs Pacquiao?

It may sound crazy, but Mexican boxer Juan Manuel Marquez drinks his own urine. It's a fact and he's been doing it even before his revelation in an HBO 24/7 video two years ago. He says the practice, often called urine therapy, has helped him win fights.

In September 2009, Marquez said he drinks his own urine “because that's where a lot of proteins and vitamins are. It's part of your vitamin intake; why not drink them again instead of wasting them.”

In alternative medicine, the term urine therapy refers to various applications of human urine for medicinal or cosmetic purposes, including drinking of one's own urine. While there are no known scientifically proven health benefits of such therapeutic use for urine, some chemical components of urine do have some well known uses, like urea (the main nitrogen-containing substance) and urokinase (used clinically as an agent in the treatment of severe or massive deep veinous clot, heart attack, etc.)

Drinking one's morning urine was an ancient yoga practice designed to promote meditation. Ancient Hindu and yoga texts that mention auto-urine drinking, require it be done before sunrise.

If Marquez wins his bout on November 12, 2011 against Filipino boxing champ Manny Pacquiao, do you think many will adopt his practice of drinking urine?
