Bagyong “Pedring” has upgraded to typhoon intensity as it gained more strength and threatens Isabela-Aurora area, the Philippine Atmospheric and Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) announced on September 26, 2011.

Bagyong Pedring
At 10:00 a.m. Monday, the state weather bureau reported that Typhoon “Pedring” was estimated at 350 km East Southeast of Casiguran, Aurora with maximum sustained winds of 120 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gustiness of up to 150 kph. It is forecast to move West Northwest at 17 kph, PAGASA said.

PAGASA said residents in low lying and mountainous areas under Public Storm Warning Signals are alerted against possible flashfloods and landslides. Likewise, those living in coastal areas are alerted against big waves or storm surges generated by this tropical cyclone.

Estimated rainfall amount is from 15 - 25 mm per hour within the 650 km diameter of the typhoon, the agency noted.

Typhoon Pedring is expected to enhance the Southwest Monsoon and will bring scattered to widespread rains over Southern Luzon and Visayas, PAGASA added.
