Suspension of Classes on August 3, 2011 — DepEd Update

School admins, teachers and students in the pre-school, elementary and secondary levels, both public and private, are probably waiting for an announcement from the Department of Education (DepEd) whether or not there will be classes in Metro Manila (NCR) on Wednesday, August 3, 2011.

Blogger LogoAccording to ABS-CBN's news program TV Patrol, DepEd NCR assistant director Rizalino Rosales said everyone concerned must wait for the announcement Wednesday at 4:00 a.m. pending its assessment on the weather condition.

Citizens are reportedly advised to monitor radio and tv stations, as well as social networking sites, for the notice.

Update 1, August 3, 2011:

DepEd in its Twitter account said regular classes resume in the NCR today, August 3, adding that PAGASA predicted that the amount of rainfall today will only be half of Tuesday's volume.

The education department “urge the public to continue monitoring the weather and stay alert for any announcements in case the rainfall volume increases.”

Superintendents, principals and local government units (LGUs) “may suspend classes if the situation warrants it” and “parents can decide whether to send their children to school or not,” the DepEd added.

“Region 1: San Carlos City - due to continuous rainfall, the Provincial Government suspended classes from Kinder to Highschool today, Aug 3.”

“Muntinlupa: Upon consultation w/ the office of Mayor Aldrin San Pedro, afternoon classes are suspended due to heavy rains.”

“Taal Batangas Municipal Mayor declared suspension of classes in the afternoon due to heavy rains being experienced at the moment.”

“Afternoon classes in NCR is suspended. Latest report from PAGASA predicts moderate to heavy rainfalls throughout the day.”
