Paulo Avelino was once compared to Piolo Pascual. When his career was still young, fans and entertainment writers said he will make a name of his own and will follow the hunk actor's footstep. Those predictions became a reality and Paulo now belongs to the same network where Piolo is.
The 23-year-old model-actor has jumped ship from GMA-7 to ABS-CBN. According to reports, Paulo signed the ABS-CBN contract last Monday, August 15, which officially makes him a Kapamilya.
Some netizens, who said he has a lot of potentials as an actor, praised his career move. They say ABS-CBN, being known as home to bigger, more popular stars, will help Paulo hone his talent and acting skills.
In an interview on Showbiz News Ngayon, the actor revealed his plan to reinvent himself as an actor and as an artist. When asked why he decided to transfer to ABS-CBN, Paulo said: “Gusto ko kasi mag-explore out of my comfort zone and at the same time gusto ko rin i-reinvent ang sarili ko as an actor, and bilang isang artista.”
Paulo was a finalist in GMA7's reality talent search “Starstruck: The Next Level” in 2006. He appeared in GMA shows such as “Ilumina,” “SOP Rules” and “Luna Mystika.” His last project with the Kapuso network was the afternoon soap opera “Alakdana.”
Paulo heated up the internet and became controversial last March when a photo of him, taken during the Bench “Return to Temptation” ad shoot, which allegedly accidentally showed part of his manhood spread in social networking sites.
Reports said Paulo hopes to work with “Primetime Princess” Kim Chiu and “Minsan Lang Kita Iibigin” lead actor Coco Martin.
