'Alabang Boys' acquitted in drug case

Two of the controversial “Alabang Boys,” Richard Brodett and Jorge Joseph, have been found as not guilty of violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 and were acquitted Friday, August 26, 2011.

Reports said Judge Juanita Guerrero of Muntinlupa Regional Trial Court Branch 204 issued the verdict Friday morning.

According to ANC, the court found inconsistencies in the testimony of the prosecution witness. The judge in her verdict also reportedly said “the prosecution failed to establish the links in the chain of custody of drugs taken from Brodett and Joseph during their arrest nearly 3 years ago.”

Both were arrested by agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) in Ayala Alabang on September 20, 2008 following several buy-bust operations.

The two Alabang Boys were released after 3 years from detention past 4PM Friday.
