NBA Finals 2011: Dallas Mavericks wins Game 4, ties series 2-2

It was a very tight Game 4 between the Miami Heat and Dallas Mavericks in the 2011 NBA Finals held at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas. At the end, the hometown team took away from Miami the opportunity to pull away in the series. The Mavs now even the series 2-2 with the win over the Heat on Tuesday, June 7 (Wednesday, June 8 PHL Standard Time) 86-83.

The score deadlock happened more than a dozen times from the first to the third quarter, but it was in the last minutes in the fourth that Dallas pulled off a run to end the game with a 3-point advantage.

Chris Bosh had another huge game, sinking most of his attempts from every corner inside the arc. He contributed 22 points for the team. He probably brought his momentum from Game 2's heroic two-pointer that snatched the win from the opponent. Dwayne Wade added 29 points.

LeBron James found Wade for an alleyhoop shot at 2 minutes left in the third, one of the game's highlights. Eventhough James has not picked up his rhythm in the scoring aspect, he did his part in rebounds and assists.

Dirk Nowitzki, meanwhile, committed an unusual error. The Mavs' star player missed a freethrow down four minutes left in the third quarter. It was his first miss at the line for the series. He was back at the bench after a timeout.

Nowitzki failed an attempt to nail a shot beyond the arc from the corner 2 seconds before the 3rd quarter ended.

At the start of the fourth, Miami had great ball rotation that gave Mike Miller the opportunity to successfuly sink a 3-pointer, extending the lead by 9 points.

The Mavs launched a 12-4 run and led in scoring with 80 against Heat's 78 at less than 5 minutes of the fourth quarter. Defensive pressure from Dallas forced Miami to commit several turnovers.

Dallas was ahead by 4 down 2 minutes in the game. Chris Bosh was blocked from behind, got fouled and sank 2 freethrows. At 30 seconds to go, Wade was fouled by Jason Kidd. He missed the last freethrow bringing his team 1 point behind Dallas 82-81.

Dirk Nowitzki's lay-up drive at 14 seconds left gave the Mavs a three-point lead. Miami made 2 points, score was 84-83 for Dallas. Jason Terry received an intentional foul and shot 2 freethrows, 86-83 at 6.7 seconds left in the last quarter, which sealed the game.

The series is now back at square one.
