Maguindanao Massacre Trial: NBN 4 to air live coverage

In “keeping with the President’s longstanding position that the cause of justice and sustained reforms in ARMM require live coverage of the Maguindanao Massacre trial,” MalacaƱang has ordered state-owned television station NBN 4 to air the Maguindanao Massacre Trial live, with no commercial breaks.

In a statement released Thursday, presidential spokesperson Edwin Lacierda said Presidential Communications Operations Office secretary Herminio Coloma has instructed NBN 4 to “undertake a gavel-to-gavel coverage of the trial.”

The trial can also be viewed online.

Earlier, Chief Justice Renato Corona has instructed the Supreme Court Public Information Office to provide a live video webcast of the Maguindanao Massacre Trial through its website.

The live stream will allow viewers around the world to watch the Maguindanao Massacre trial “continuously and without interruption,” the High Tribunal said.

Commercials and anchor commentaries are banned while the trial is going on. Reports said violators of the guidelines will be slapped with cancellation of permit to air the trial and contempt.
