Although they lost to Pilipinas Got Talent Season 2 grand winner Marcelito Pomoy, tap dancing duo Ramonito and Lourdito Mata of Bukidnon, more popularly known as Happy Feet, won the hearts of many Filipinos, PGT 2 celebrity judge Ai-Ai delas Alas said during an interview.
She calls the two young boys “Anak” and even bought them their tap-dancing shoes. Delas Alas admitted that she rooted for the group to win the grand finals, but they ended up 1.24% of total votes short.
Happy Feet got 18.32% to place second to Pomoy who garnered 19.56% of the total votes. It was actually a tight competition.
The comedienne-actress said Happy feet captured the hearts of pinoys because of their inspiring story.
“Ang buhay kasi ng 'Happy Feet' parang soap opera. Siyam na magkakapatid, mahirap. Hindi ko nga alam kung paano nila natutunan yong 'Happy Feet' na sayaw,” delas Alas reportedly said.
She also revealed what's in stored for the duo.
“Ang alam ko, papaaralin sila ng ABS-CBN. May mga plano na para sa kanila...at sa mga kapatid nila para magkatrabaho,” she said.
Happy Feet performed a tap dancing routine to the tune of Whigfield's “Close to You” during the grand finals performance night last Saturday, June 25, which, according to TNS Philippines, was second to the highest-rated episode of PGT 2 at 34.5% nationwide. The grand results night was the highest in the entire history of PGT 2, garnering a 38.2% national rating.
Happy Feet has started to appear as guest in various ABS-CBN shows. The group guested at Umagang Kay Ganda on Tuesday, June 28th.
