ARMM Elections Postponed

The scheduled elections in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) on August 8 have been moved after the Philippine Senate on Monday, June 6, 2011 decided to approve on third and final reading House Bill (HB) 4146.

Via a 13-7 vote in favor of the measure, the Senate affirmed the decision to postpone the ARMM elections after nearly six hours of floor delibration on the argument that a desynchronized election is unconstitutional.

In effect, the ARMM elections will be synchronized with the May 2013 National and Local Elections.
