PAGASA: Low probability of “Chedeng” becoming a super typhoon

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) has issued its latest weather bulletin as of 12 noon on Tuesday, May 24th. It said Tropical Storm “Chedeng” has slowed down as it moves in a West Northwest direction.

The center of TS “Chedeng” was estimated at 500 kilometers east of Borongan, Eastern Samar with maximum sustained winds of 105 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 135 kph, PAGASA reported.

While it circulated in print and broadcast media as well as on websites and blogs on Monday that “Chedeng” may turn into a super typhoon, the agency early Tuesday morning clarified that the possibility of “Chedeng” becoming into a “Milenyo”-like typhoon is low.

“Low probability na magsuper typhoon intensity c chedeng,” PAGASA posted on Facebook. Netizens were thankful for that news.
