NAIA Terminal 1 ceiling collapsed

The ceiling at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 1 collapsed, the AFP news agency reports on Wednesday. Last month, the NAIA Terminal 1 was voted as the fifth worst airport in the world by travelers and passengers in an online travel guide site sleepinginairports.net.

Two people were hurt, a baggage handler and a security officer, as a plaster ceiling collapsed, the report said.

Terminal manager Dante Basanta reportedly said 2 cave-ins hit the 29-year-old terminal within hours of each other Tuesday, though the second did not harm anyone and in neither case were operations hampered.

No passengers were hurt during the incident which is now under investigation, Basanta reportedly said.
