Manny Pacquiao handler eyes Juan Manuel Marquez for next bout

Top Ranks boxing promotions chief Bob Arum is reportedly working on a possible match between WBO welterweight champ congressman Manny Pacquiao and Juan Manuel Marquez on November 5, 2011 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. According to Arum, the mexican boxer has agreed to the proposal, recent reports said.

If the Pacquiao - Marquez November match pushes through, it will realize a much-awaited trilogy.

The two first fought in May 2004 which resulted to a draw. It became controversial after one of the judges reportedly admitted that he committed an error in the scorecards. He said Marquez could have won the fight.

In their rematch in March 2008, Pacquiao won via a split decision, but his critics said his opponent should have emerged as the winner.

Meanwhile, the Los Angeles Times reported that Pacquiao and Marquez will fight at a welterweight catch weight of 144 pounds with Marquez guaranteed a $5 million-purse, same to what Shane Mosley received in the recently held bout where Pacquiao successfully defended his title.

The Pacquiao vs Marquez 3 is not definite yet. Golden Boy promotions, which Marquez is under, will have the final word as it has the contractual opportunity to close the deal.
