John Gabriel Pelias, who is graduating summa cum laude at the University of the Philippines (UP) Diliman with a degree in Bachelor of Science in Math, has set a new record in UP’s history after obtaining the highest general weighted average (GWA) since World War II.
His GWA 1.016 eclipsed the 1.193 GWA attained in 1948 by professor emeritus Emerenciana Yuvienco Arcellana, a GMA News report said.
In Pelias’ four years in college, he received mostly flat 1’s. He only missed the elusive “uno” when he got a 1.25 in 3 classes, in his whole tertiary years.
