Mac, iPad, iPod and iPhone maker Apple on Wednesday launched a thinner, faster iPad 2. The new tablet computer comes with a processor upgrade that's twice as fast as the previous one with its dual-core A5, which also makes its video acceleration nine times faster.

The iPad 2, which will be available on leading networks in the U.S., AT&T and Verizon, also gets an operating system upgrade from iOS 4.2.6 to iOS 4.3 that comes with various applications such as Facetime for the iPad, iMovie for video-editing, GarageBand for music recording-editing-mixing, PhotoBooth for photo-editing/effects.

Apple's latest tech toy has a front and back-facing camera for FaceTime video calling, two models the Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi + 3G and a smart cover/stand made of polyurethane, a material used for making space suits, plus all other features that make it different and better than the pioneer iPad.

During the Apple event in SF, the company revealed that the iPad 2 will ship on March 11 in the U.S. and on March 25 in other countries. So far, Belgium, Poland, Canada and the Czech Republic were the ones announced to receive the second generation iPad.
