Smart Communications on Wednesday posted on its Facebook Wall an infographic about Android, Google's mobile operating system (see the image below). This makes it clear that while its rival Globe Telecom has gone iPhone, Smart will be pushing Android-powered mobile devices to clients.
Notice that I have underlined “mobile devices” because I have a feeling that Smart's Android promotions will focus more on the Samsung Galaxy Tab, a 7-inch TFT-LCD tablet that runs on Android 2.2 (“Froyo”), under both prepaid and postpaid subcriptions, not just on mobile phones.
According to techie sources, the unlocked (openline) Samsung Galaxy Tab currently sells at roughly ₱34,000.
So, Globe is to iOS for the iPhone/iPad, Smart is to Android for mobile phones/devices like the Samsung Galaxy Tab — who do you think will do better in terms of service and sales?
