Another Filipino Teacher Honored in China — DFA

The Philippine Embassy in Beijing reported that another Filipino teacher, Frederick S. Lomibao, was honored by the Chinese government as an outstanding foreign expert for teaching English in China’s Liaoning Province.

Mr. Lomibao received his award from Liaoning Governor Chen Zhenggao for his outstanding contribution to the economic, scientific, technological, educational and cultural development of the province.

Mr. Lomibao has been teaching English in China for six years, and is now employed at a private school in Liaoning’s Yingkou City.

In an email to the Embassy, he said that the award he received “will not only bring honor to our country but also give inspiration to other Filipinos at home and abroad.”

“When I was with the other awardees, I (felt) very proud representing our country (in China),” the Filipino teacher added.

Mr. Lomibao joined three other Filipino teachers - Ma. Socorro Rodriguez, Arnel Genzola and Lileth Mesias Reyes – who were also cited by China's Jilin Province for their contributions to the province's economic and social development.

They were bestowed "The Outstanding Foreign Experts Award," which various provinces or cities in China confer annually to foreign experts to thank and commend them for their outstanding achievements and contribution to China's development in various fields such as the economy, technology, education and culture.

"We commend our teachers for displaying the highest quality of dedication and professionalism in China,” Philippine Chargé d’ Affaires Maria Teresa T. Almojuela said. “They also continue to build important links with the Chinese people, and strongly contribute to the strengthening of bilateral relations between the Philippines and China,” she stated.
