TV5 International to launch in January

Controversial host/comedian and new Kapatid network member Willie Revillame on Saturday, during his game show Willing Willie's October 23 premiere telecast, has confirmed the TV5 International launch in January next year.

“Wag kayong mag-alala, malapit na buong mundo. By January, magsisimula na ang TV5 International...para po sa inyo,” Revillame said in one segment (watch the video below).

TV5 LogoIn a media interview months earlier, TV5 president Ray Espinosa said that the international business was “part of the company’s plan to make the TV network at par with the country’s top two TV networks.”

Atty. Espinosa was referring to ABS-CBN and GMA 7 who have invested abroad for ABS-CBN International (a.k.a. ABS-CBN Global) which delivers top-caliber Filipino shows to Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) and international audience via The Filipino Channel (TFC), and GMA Worldwide, Inc., respectively.

According to reports, TV5 will launch in North America, Europe and Italy, a big market “where there is a large concentration of migrant Filipino workers.”

TV5 International is also expected to expand in the Middle East and Japan.
