October 6 is No Plastic Day

MalacaƱang through its official website posted a banner supporting the No Plastic Day on Wednesday, October 6, 2010 (October 5 in the US). The No Plastic Day is “a world wide event intended to bring awareness of the over consumption of disposable plastic goods such as plastic bags and bottles,” it read.

No Plastic Day
According to the Greenhouse Neutral Foundation, “every day the world consumes an estimated 1,440 million (1 million per minute) with an estimate of over 500 billion bags consumed every year.”

“Less than 2% of these are recycled, [the rest are] ending up in landfill, as windblown litter, or invading the rivers and oceans of the world,” the organization revealed.

COOLBUSTER.net is one with the government and the environment-loving people in this cause.

We encourage our readers not to use plastic bags and bottles for the rest of the day, and probably in the days to come. Please recycle paper bags and dispose off non-biodegradable garbage properly.
