How to Optimize Windows 7

This is a simple tutorial on how to optimize Windows 7, particularly its TCP/IP setting. Before anything else, I would like to emphasize that this will not increase your internet speed as it is fully dependent on your broadband subscription. Instead, this tweak will help you maximize or take full advantage of your internet connection for a better speed.

I have written this post as simply as I can, with the least technical terms, to allow as many people to easily understand and follow. Just a reminder: if you don't trust me, DO NOT proceed.

How to Optimize Windows 7
  • First, you must create a system restore point so you can revert your system to its previous state if and when you'll feel it has been messed up. Click here for the guide.
  • Download the SG TCP/IP patch. It's a Windows Command Script from SpeedGuide.net. The best thing about this patch is that it has an option to bring back the altered setting to normal.
  • Save the file in your desktop, right-click and then “Run as administrator”.
  • Type “y” (yes) to optimize Windows 7 TCP/IP settings.
  • Click any key to close the Command Prompt.
  • Restart your computer and you're done.
Windows 7 Tweak
I did this today immediately after installing a Wi-Fi router and wireless area network (WAN) in our home. It worked.
