Bagyong Ester

Update as of August 8, 2010:

At 4:00 p.m. today, Tropical Storm "Ester" upgraded from Tropical Depression was estimated based on satellite and surface data at 410 km Northeast of Basco, Batanes (23.3°N 125.2°E) with maximum winds of 65 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 80 kph. It is forecast to move North Northeast at 15 kph.

As of 4:30 p.m., ESTER has intensified into a Storm and continues to move in a north northeast direction towards the southern islands of Japan.

Public Storm Signal elsewhere now lowered.

Tropical Storm "Ester" will continue to enhance the Southwest Monsoon and bring rains over Luzon and Visayas and the coastal waters over these areas will be rough and dangerous to small seacrafts and fishing boats.
