Starbucks to offer Free WiFi

A free, one click Wi-Fi access through AT&T will be offered to customers of Starbucks stores in the U.S. beginning 1 July 2010, says Starbuck's Howard Schultz at Wired's Business Conference in New York today, June 14th (June 15th in the Philippines).

Starbucks CoffeeThe company also plans to launch, in partnership with Yahoo! and other content providers, a Starbucks Digital Network later this fall. It will offer free digital content and will allow customers 'free unrestricted access' to various sites and services that include the Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, USA Today, Yahoo! and iTunes for a free download of the week, on their laptops, tablets or smartphones.

The Starbucks Digital Network "opens up a uniquely valuable customer experience, while at the same time appeals to leading online content providers and provides a new channel for customer engagement," Starbucks announced through a press release on its website Monday.
