Simple Ways to Prevent Hacker Attacks

There's a lot of computer threats these days. Viruses, spywares, adwares, bundlewares. The most dangerous are hackers.

Hackers can steal vital personal and business information without you knowing it. They can track your internet usage, get screenshots of your computer activities and can retrieve passwords and bank account numbers including personal identification numbers or PIN.

The integrated Windows Firewall isn't an assurance that intrusions by remote access are prevented. Whew! scary isn't it?
To battle this threat, the following are readily available ways which you can immediately apply on your machines without the need of a software.

Do as stated:

1. Right click 'My Computer' and click 'Properties';
2. Click 'Remote' tab;
3. UNCHECK "Allow Remote Assistance invitations to be sent from this computer";
4. UNCHECK "Allow users to connect remotely to this computer";
5. Click 'Apply' and 'OK'.

Next, do some registry tweaking. Please be extra careful on this part.

1. Go to Start>Run and type "services.msc" (w/o the quotes);
2. On the lower part of the right pane, click 'Standard' tab;
3. Disable the following by double-clicking the entry and then in the 'Startup type' dropdown box, select "Disabled".
  • Messenger
  • NetMeeting Remote Desktop Sharing
  • Remote Access Auto Connection Manager
  • Remote Desktop Help Session Manager
  • Remote Registry
  • Routing and Remote Access
  • Telnet
These are just basics but are helpful.
