Iloilo vehicular accident leaves 6 people dead, 9 injured

A vehicular accident in Barotac Nuevo, Iloilo, involving a-10 wheeler truck and passenger jeepney left 6 people dead and 9 others injured.

Results of the investigation conducted by Barotac Nuevo Police showed that the jeepney was on its way to the coastal town of Banate when it collided with the truck that had overtaken a Ceres bus, RMN News Iloilo reported.

Because of the very strong impact, the PUJ was totally wrecked and the passengers were crushed while some were thrown away on various parts of the road in Barangay Bungca.

The fatalities were identified as Aurora Carmona; Lea Tamon, 30 years old; Eugene Tamon, 4; Rodolfo Gantuangco, jeepney driver; and two others who were unidentified.

Those who sustained injuries were Felix Desilaw, 43; Francis Desilaw, Josephine Pane; Jemma Rodriguez, 43; Madelen Premedeles; Gloria Fuentes, 67; Adelfa Vargas, 36; and 2 unidentified.

The driver of the 10-wheeler truck, 28-year-old Blake Alfar from Cadiz City, Negros Occidental, as well as his crew, Anthony Montero, 27, and Jovane Galarte, were also injured in the mishap.
