'Arrogant mediaman' slammed for post vs Davao people

Netizens slammed an "arrogant mediaman" apparently loyal to the past administration for his Facebook post against people from Davao.

Writer and broadcaster Arpee Lazaro, said to be a brother of Philippine Ambassador to France Ma. Theresa Lazaro whose roots can be traced in Iloilo, has been receiving flak from bloggers after he gave what appears to be an unsolicited advice to individuals who came to Manila to cover President Rodrigo Duterte's activities.

Based on the screenshot of his post shared by blogger Avel Manansala from General Santos, the journalist described those who cover the chief executive as houseflies.

"IMHO yung mga langaw na nakasabit kay duterte, ngayong nasa maynila na kayo, mag-aral kayo ng mabuti, pagbutihan nyo trabaho nyo. Hindi biro magtanong at kumalkal ng baho ang mga manila-based media," Lazaro wrote.

"Pasensya na po pero nagsasabi lang ng totoo. Things are done differently in manila kaya kung royal blood ka sa davao, commoner ka dito. You will need to work hard to earn people's respect here in manila," he added.

The Chronicles of Love Mindanao described Lazaro's post as "a discriminatory remark against the people of southern Philippines" and said, "This arrogant, sarcastic 'media man' have gone mad to praise himself as Manileno being superior over the people from the south."

In its conclusion, the blog called Lazaro a "garbage of the society that needs to be ignored as his opinion was baseless and nonsense."

During the election period, Lazaro reportedly campaigned for the candidate of the Aquino administration, Liberal Party standard-bearer Mar Roxas, who lost to Duterte in the presidential race.
