Police track down P1.4M Tarlac robbery suspects through footprints

Four suspected robbers were arrested in Tarlac City for stealing P1.4 million cash after police tracked them down through their footprints.

According to a report posted by the Tarlac News Center Facebook page, the robbery suspects identified as Rolando Dela Cruz, Albert Encarnacion, Marvina Dela Cruz and Janet Dayrit, all from Barangay Matatalaib, were nabbed following a heist that took place around 10:30 p.m. last Monday, June 20.

Initial investigation revealed that the suspects allegedly broke the bedroom window panes and barged into the residence of the victim, Sarah Laus, and took her shoulder bag containing the money.

Fortunately, it rained that night and the downpour caused the soil in the area to get muddy. The cops who responded were able to track down the looters through their footprints.

“Dahil umulan, malinaw ang mga bakas na naiwan ng mga nagnakaw sa likod ng bahay. Papunta ang mga bakas sa isang kapitbahay ng biktima at ng imbestigahan namin ang bahay, na-recover ang mahigit P1,386,000”, said Insp Josue Gonzales, Tarlac City PNP chief investigator. [Because it rained, the robbers left clear traces leading to the house of one of the victim's neighbors and when we investigated that house, more than P1,386,000 were recovered.]

In his report, police chief PSupt Bayani Razalan disclosed that P1,005,166 was retrieved from Encarnacion, P297,000 from Dela Cruz, and P81,900 from Dayrit, all neighbors of Laus.

The 4 suspects were charged of robbery, Tarlac News Center reported.

Meanwhile, the victim thanked the city police for the fast recovery of her money.

“Ngayon naniniwala na akong matino na ang mga pulis. Honest at seryoso sila sa trabaho dahil naibalik ng halos buo ang pera ko sa loob lamang ng halos 5 oras”, Laus reportedly said. [I now believe that cops have become sensible. They are honest and serious in their job as they were able to recover almost all of my money in just about 5 hours.]
