ISIS releases Abu Sayyaf video of Robert Hall beheading

The Islamic State has released the video of the beheading of Canadian hostage Robert Hall by its Philippine affiliate Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG).

Online reports say the graphic video made its way online via ISIS channels on Wednesday, June 15 (Manila time), two days after the ASG beheaded Hall in Sulu following the expiration of the deadline for the P600 million ransom.

The video of Hall's decapitation comes a month after fellow Canadian John Ridsdel's beheading by the ASG, a terrorist group in the Philippines whose leaders and members pledged allegiance to ISIS in 2014, based on a video released that year.

The military said in a statement that civilians found a severed head near the Jolo Cathedral at around 8:45 p.m. last Monday, June 13.

It was airlifted to Manila from Sulu for forensic examination at the Philippine National Police crime laboratory, PNP officials said.

Meanwhile, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau remained firm about his government's "no ransom policy" against terrorists.

Trudeau vowed coordination with the Philippine government and international partners in bringing the perpetrators of these "heinous acts" to justice "however long it takes."
