Colorum van rape suspect shot dead while trying to escape

The second suspect in the colorum van rape case was shot dead after he allegedly tried to escape from arresting police officers on Friday.

Alfie "Buddy" Turado, the accomplice of the driver accused of raping two women inside a passenger van last June 10, was spotted by officials of Barangay Obrero, Quezon City. Cops nabbed and brought the suspect to the police station after residents mobbed him.

According to an ABS-CBN News report, Turado admitted that he and the driver, Wilfredo Lorenzo, were together when the crime happened but denied raping the two passengers.

He insisted that contrary to the claim of the victims, it was Lorenzo who raped the passengers as he was driving the van. Here's a video of the interview with Turado when he was still alive:

Turado agreed to show the cops where he and Lorenzo hide their loot. The suspect was shot when he allegedly tried to grab the gun of a police officer on their way to the area along Tandang Sora.

The suspect was rushed to the East Avenue Medical Center where he was pronounced dead before 4AM.

Quezon City Police District-Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit (CIDU) Chief Insp. Rodel Marcelo, who considered the case closed because Turado is dead and Lorenzo is already detained, warned that criminals have no place in QC.

Two more victims of the suspects surfaced, according to the report.
