Married man suspected of raping, killing 3-year-old girl arrested

Police arrested a married man who was suspected of raping and killing a 3-year-old girl in Barangay Puntalinao, Banaybanay, Davao Oriental.

Eduardo Agoncillo, 51 years old and a resident of Sitio Waling-Waling in the same village, has been arrested and detained on charges of rape with homicide, Brigada News Davao reported.

Apparently, the suspect was the same person who found the child's dead body several hours after she went missing in Habitat Puntalinao last Wednesday at around 7 p.m.

Police Senior Inspector Lino Akiangan Jr., chief of Banaybanay Municipal Police Station, confirmed that the victim, Annjealhen Faith Alonzo, was raped before being killed.

She had no underwear when her lifeless body was found in a kanipa-an (area full of coconut palm leaves), about 200 meters away from her house, where scene of the crime operatives found a used cigarette stick, a ballpen, and the victim's pajama.

After the news broke, town mayor Ada Tambuang condemned the crime and offered a P100,000 cash reward to anyone who can provide information that could lead to the arrest of the perpetrator.
