Closeup 'Forever Summer 2016' deaths due to lacing of drinks?

Closeup Philippines has released a statement following reports of death incidents due to lacing of drinks at the "Forever Summer 2016" party.

The weekend musical event was held on May 21, 2016 at the MOA Concert Grounds at the Mall of Asia Complex in Pasay City.

Here's the shocking public advisory that has gone viral on Facebook.

This was forwarded to me, but read up because on of my friends collapsed and died last night right after the event.

"Sorry for this alarming news but if any of your children went to the Closeup summer party last night please bring them to the hospital if they are feeling abdominal pains, palpitations and extreme drowsiness. Suspected lacing of drinks have cause 5 deaths already. Please check you children."

Philip, tagging you since we were talking about him earlier.

A certain Kaye Fajards posted this on Facebook:

4 people confirmed dead. I guess it's because of dehydration. May pinagpasapasahan na tubig daw on the event itself which is baka may GHB (drugs taken mostly by ravers). Na-OD [overdosed] ata. So don't do drugs. Just enjoy the music nalang. Condolence . RIP

GHB is also known as Gamma Hydroxybutyrate, a central nervous system depressant that is commonly referred to as a "club drug" or "date rape" drug.

In her status message, Emy Co, one of the attendees, said she "felt dizzy and unable to breathe."

In her response to blogger Pal Raine asking if she's okay, Co said she immediately went home to rest, adding that what she felt was due to the "drug overdose like those who passed away." She described the Close Up event as "too crowded."

A member of the Facebook Group Manila Ravers, who also went to the party, posted a screenshot of the capsule taken by a friend who died. The screengrab trended on Twitter:

On Sunday afternoon, Close Up through its Facebook page released an official statement regarding the incident. It reads:

Closeup and its organizing agency, Activations Advertising, and staging agency, Eventscape, are deeply saddened by the events that transpired on the early hours of May 22, 2016.

We regret that despite the very stringent measures and precautions we have put in place to ensure the safety and security of all attendees involved, this incident still transpired. As such, strict protocols were followed to immediately provide medical assistance, as well as rush all those involved to the nearest hospital where they can receive emergency care.

We extend our deepest sympathies to the families of those who’ve passed away, and commit support in their time of bereavement. Likewise, our efforts are now focused on supporting those needing medical assistance so they may fully recover.

We are fully cooperating with the authorities in the ongoing police investigations.

The incident is now under investigation.
