Student gets bashed for using Philippine flag as rag mop

The law says respect shall at all times be accorded the Philippine national flag but in this viral video, a student turned it into a rag mop.

Section 34, paragraph (a) of Republic Act 8491 states that it shall be prohibited "to mutilate, deface, defile, trample, on or cast contempt any act or omission casting dishonor or ridicule upon the flag over its surface."
In the video posted Tuesday by the Pinoy Online Watchers Facebook page, a male student from an unidentified high school treated the flag with so much disrespect that netizens wanted to find him and teach him a lesson.

He quickly gained bashers as the clip became a trending topic minutes after it was uploaded, garnering over 185,000 views in less than six hours.

For comparison, one angry netizen posted a photo of a man who saved the flag when a powerful storm battered the country. He said the student should be penalized for his actions.
