Kuya Germs dead: Master Showman German Moreno dies

Philippine showbiz icon Kuya Germs is dead. German Moreno, the Master Showman, has died due to cardiac arrest early Friday morning. He was 82.

Kuya Germs suffered a mild stroke on January 2, 2015. One year after, he suffered another stroke and was rushed to the St. Lukes Medical Center in Quezon City.

His nephew, television host John Nite, said his uncle passed away from fatal familial insomia on January 8, 2016.

"He passed on in the company of his family and friends. He lived a full life, touched so many hearts through the years, and helped make dreams come true for most of the biggest stars in the Philippine entertainment industry," John said in a statement sent to media.

"We are deeply saddened by his passing but we are comforted by the thought that his legacy will live on," he added.

Moreno was best known for being a star builder. In the 1980s, he had a show called "That's Entertainment" where celebrities like Lea Salonga, Manilyn Reynes, Jean Garcia, Gladys Reyes, Judy Ann Santos, Donna Cruz, Janno Gibbs, Billy Crawford, Ramon Christopher, Lotlot de Leon and many other artists started.
