Honest taxi driver in Davao returns OFW's wallet, cash

We would like to praise and commend Mr. Engelbert Estañoso, an honest taxi driver in Davao who returned the wallet and cash of our colleague.

According to Krystel Grace Esteban, a balikbayan overseas Filipino worker (OFW) who happens to be one of this site's social media managers, she lost her wallet on December 22, her birthday. At first, she wasn't sure if she dropped or lost her wallet in the mall or taxi. She arrived at her hometown with a heavy heart.

While browsing her Facebook timeline and private messages for birthday greetings, she noticed a PM from somebody unfamiliar — it was Estañoso. The Krizia Taxi driver told Krystel that he found her wallet.

Krystel and her husband went back to Davao to meet and personally thank Estañoso. During their conversation, she said the taxi driver is kind, soft-spoken and courteous. It was found out that besides driving, Estañoso is also into farming so he must be a very hardworking man.

When Krystel thanked him for returning her wallet, he said "gipadako man gud mi mam na pag dili among butang iuli jud namo. Kay dili lalim ug sakit jud baya mawala-an...mao pud na akong ginatudlo sa akong mga anak." [Ma'am, we were raised being taught to return anything that's not ours because it's really hard and it hurts to lose something. I also teach my children about it.]

"Faith in humanity restored," Krystel posted.
