According to Marvin Dacula, who uses the handle Don Don Marvin on Facebook, he was on board MV Jaylan - Fast Motorized Boat bound for Dumaguete City when he spotted at around 5 p.m. a piece of wood floating like a fishing bouy.
After two minutes he noticed that someone was actually waving it to ask for help. Dacula said he tapped the roof of the vessel repeatedly to notify the crew.

The identity of the foreigner is still unknown as of posting time, but some netizens speculated that he is Italian national Rolando del Torquio, who was abducted in Dipolog City last week.
Reports said the restaurateur was taken by heavily armed men on a white van in Barangay Miputakon at around 7 p.m. Wednesday, October 7. The getaway vehicle was later found abandoned at Dipolog Boulevard.
The kidnappers and the victim were believed to have transferred to two pumpboats, according to authorities.
